During 8-14 August, a total of 18,502 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Pakistan through Turkham and Spin Boldak borders of Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces according to the figures provided by the Border Monitoring Team of Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation (DoRR). Out of this, 18,153 were spontaneous returnees in family groups and 349 were deported individuals. In comparison with the first week of August, the return has decreased by 4% during 8-14 August. The decrease in the spontaneous return was only 3% however the decrease in the deportation has been recorded by 50%.
During the period, IOM provided post-arrival humanitarian assistance to 2,050 (12%) of the returnees only through Turkham in total from Pakistan. Based on the profile information of the families returned during July, 76% chose Nangarhar as final destination, 15% Kabul, 5% Kunar, 3% Laghman and finally 1% Logar as the top five return provinces.
The families composition were, 16.41% male, 17.28% female, 34% boys under 18 and 32.36% girls under 18.
