Afghanistan: The situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security - Report of the Secretary-General (A/70/359–S/2015/684)

I. Introduction

1. The present report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 68/11 and Security Council resolution 2210 (2015), in which I was requested to report every three months on developments in Afghanistan.

2. The report provides an update on the activities of the United Nations in Afghanistan, including significant humanitarian, development and human rights efforts, since the issuance of my previous report of 10 June 2015 (A/69/929-S/2015/422). It also provides a summary of key political and security developments and regional and international events related to Afghanistan.
